[32] Ali bin Ibrahim regarding His saying, the Exalted: “The Day the shin shall be uncovered and they are invited to prostration,” he said: “The Day when the matters that were hidden shall be uncovered, and what they wrongfully seized of the right of the family of Muhammad.”
“and they are invited to prostration,” he said: “It will be uncovered for the Commander of the Faithful—Majestic is his mention—so their necks will become like the sayasi of cows—meaning their horns—“and they will not be able” to prostrate, and it is a punishment because they did not obey Allah in the worldly life regarding His command.” 1 .
[33] What was narrated by Ibn Abbas: That a man came to the Commander of the Faithful—Majestic is his mention—seeking his hospitality, so he called for a dry loaf of barley bread and a wooden bowl containing water. Then he broke a piece and threw it into the water, and then said to the man: “Take it,” so he pulled it out, and behold, it was the roasted thigh of a bird. Then he threw another piece to him and said: “Take it,” so he pulled it out, and behold, it was a piece of sweetmeat. Thereupon the man said: “O my master, you place dry pieces for me yet I find them to be various types of food!” So the Commander of the Faithful—Majestic is his mention—said: “Yes, this is The Exoteric (Al-Zahir) , and that is The Esoteric (Al-Batin); and indeed, our matter is just like this.” 2 .
