[25] On the authority of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib—His might was mighty—that he said one day to Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman:
“O Hudhayfah, do not narrate to the people that which they do not know, lest they transgress and disbelieve. Indeed, among knowledge is that which is difficult, whose bearing is severe; if you were to load the mountains with it, they would be incapable of bearing it. Indeed, our knowledge—the People of the House—will be denied and invalidated, its narrators will be killed, and he who recites it will be mistreated out of outrage and envy, because of that by which Allah favored the progeny of the Trustee (al-Wasiyy), the Trustee of the Prophet—His might was mighty.” 1 .
[26] On the authority of Ibn Abi Ya'fur, he said: I said to Abu Abdillah—His might was mighty—: We say that Ali—His might was mighty—used to have [knowledge] nudged into his ear and poured into his chest. So he said: “Indeed, Ali was a muhaddath (one addressed by angels).” When he saw that this had become grave upon me, he said: “Indeed, Ali, on the day of Banu Qurayzah and al-Nadir, Jibra'il was on his right and Mika'il was on his left, addressing him.” 2 .
