"I hope that the body of believing readers will benefit from the content of this treatise of mine, especially among them the group of moderate intellectuals who seek the truth with longing and fervor, and whom it grieved that they could not find anyone to quench their thirst from the spring of true knowledge, and it pained them that religion has reached the state of backwardness and distortion it is in because of the negligence, lost state, and recklessness of its men; hoping that this treatise will be read.
I have a request that I urge the believing brothers—to whom this treatise reaches after me—to work on fulfilling, and my request is that they do not leave any room for it to leak to those who are undeserving of being acquainted with it, from the ignorant ones whose creed has corrupted and whose souls have become evil, while they claim knowledge and understanding, acting upon the report which says: 'Do not withhold wisdom from those worthy of it lest you wrong it, and do not give it to those unworthy of it lest you squander it.'"
