The second: It is understood from their saying that the effector cannot show them His essence except by His trace, and the maker is only indicated by his artifact,

and that for the trace and the artifact there is of the manifestation what is not for the effector and the maker. And their deriving of evidence by that is most similar to what would be the deriving of evidence for the lofty mountain by the fine needle, and by the small cloud for the encompassing ether (al-athir al-muhit)!

[310] And our Master al-Husayn bin Ali - Exalted is His Might - has clarified this reality while he was in the addressing of his Master; he said, may my soul be his ransom: 'My God, how can evidence be derived for You by what is, in its existence, in need of You? Does there belong to other than You of the manifestation what is not Yours, until it becomes the manifester of You? When were You absent until You need an evidence that indicates You? And when were You distant until the traces are what guide to You? Blind is an eye that does not see You as a watcher over it, and losing is the deal of a servant for whom You did not make a share of Your love.'

Just as the wisdom from His manifestation among His servants is that they become disciplined by His disciplines and they seek guidance by His teachings, and the believer finds solace in His meeting.
