"Because the name is only the name of the body, and it is 'Moses' (Musa), and the form (al-surah) has the name of 'Moses'. And that is because at the manifestation of the body, the name falls upon it so it is named by it. And what was other than that, the name of the body does not fall upon it, because for the intellect (al-'aql) there is a name other than the name of the body, and likewise the limbs (al-jawarih) and the soul (al-nafs); for each one of them there is a name other than the name of the body.

For indeed, each one of them is singular in its name, and if that body perishes, those names perish with it by its perishing."

"And what was other than the body, it is returning to its state from which its beginning was, and the originator (al-muhdith) of it is the one who removes it. And that is because the body at its perishing, its likeness is like the likeness of the sleeper who is existent of body: he is addressed but does not comprehend, and he is asked but does not answer, and he is indicated to but does not speak, and he is fed but does not eat, and he is fumigated [with incense] but does not smell. [This is] despite the fact that all the instruments of the body are remaining in their state within it, of soul (nafs), spirit (ruh), intellect ('aql), blood, hearing, and sight, and nothing of that has been annihilated in it. And likewise it is at its perishing: the spirit is taken from it, and the body which has the name remains in its state."
