And do not display it, for it is from the strangers hidden

And be jealous over it and safeguard it as long as you live by it

And there came in this book what is its text: “Everyone has agreed since the most ancient eras upon keeping these gnostic ways far from the sight of the ignorant and the intruders, and even from the scholars in the temporal sense of the word and the jurists, out of fear of distorting them, the loss of their sanctity, and the uncovering of their meanings and their indication to no avail for him within whom the breezes of the spirit have not stirred in seeking its guidance.”
