and I did not see in the standing place (al-mawqif) an owner of an ash-colored camel girded with a Qatawani cloak beneath him a purplish-red velvet fabric other than our Master the Commander of the Faithful" 1 .
Footnotes
1Abdullah bin Sinan, he said: I heard Abu Abdullah - Exalted is His Might - say: "Indeed Allah descends on the day of Arafah at the beginning of the sun's decline to the earth upon a camel whose front teeth are separated (jamal afraq), jostling with his two thighs the people of Arafat right and left. And he does not cease [to be] thus until when it is at sunset and the people depart, Allah delegates two angels at the mountains of Al-Ma'zimayn, calling out at the strait which you saw: 'O Lord, grant safety, grant safety.' And the Lord ascends to the sky and says - majestic is His praise -: 'Amen, Amen, Lord of the worlds.' Therefore, you scarcely see a prostrated one nor a broken one." Source: Al-Usul al-Sittah 'Ashar. From Ibn Abbas, the Messenger of Allah said: "I saw my Lord in Mina at the departure, upon an ash-colored camel, upon Him a woolen robe, in front of the people."
