My Master said: "And likewise the Originator (al-Bari'), majestic is His eminence: had He not been manifest, existent, and established,
He would not have been known, and the knowledge of Him would not have been established. And the claimant of knowing Him would have been nullifying and a false claimant. And likewise also, the scholar's knowledge of it does not increase its worth, nor exalt its status or its rank. And the ignorance of the one who is ignorant of it does not diminish its status, nor lower its worth, nor does he know it with the true knowledge of it."
The King said: "The scholar is only elevated by the strength of his knowledge and the vastness of his understanding, and the rank of the ignorant is lowered by his ignorance and the scarcity of his knowledge. As for the jewel, it remains upon its state and its perfection; the scarcity of knowledge of the one who is ignorant of it has not changed it, since every essence stands by itself, neither changing nor transitioning. And it was not upon a state then found to be contrary to it, so that addition, deficiency, alteration, and cessation would be permissible upon it."
