The King said to him: "It is only incumbent upon the answerer the knowledge of the manifest light, the acknowledgment of it, and the indication to it from the standpoint of the manifestation of power and wisdom from it. But as for the hidden (batin) of the light, there is no way to its perception."

My Master said: "So if it spread upon the face of the earth and individuated [into] many persons in separated places, so that every person was separate and the other disconnected from what was witnessed of it?"

The King said: "This is not permissible if the light was standing by its essence, and the lights were do not divide and do not fragment, so the light and the other are one essence (jawhar)."

My Master said: "And had this jewel not been existent, manifest, and established, would it have been known, mentioned, or named?"

The King said: "No."
