And if all matters and things were on the level of manifestation and clarity for everyone, the Essence of Allah would have been the most manifest and clear of them to everyone.

He, Glory be to Him, said: “He is the First” without a beginning, “and the Last” without an end, “and The Exoteric (Al-Zahir)” to the gnostics, “and The Esoteric (Al-Batin)” from the deniers. And what you see of scientific discoveries and natural secrets today, of that which was unknown yesterday, certainly demonstrates the correctness of what we mention; and every natural secret we stand upon surely points out that behind it are millions of secrets unknown to us.

And this intellect states, declaring openly, that existence has an intelligible inward—such as force, energy, and laws, these hidden factors acting upon the perceptible outward aspects and occurrences—just as it has a perceptible outward, like the visible things that infold attributes and qualities by which the senses are affected. And in that is a lesson for the possessors of insight and mature, illuminated intellects.
