[288] And from it, from al-Mufaddal - from him is peace - he said: A man entered upon our Master al-Sadiq - Exalted is His Might - and said to him: "O my Master, is Allah in every place or in a place to the exclusion of a place?"
He said: "Rather, in every place." He said: "Is He in the inanimate and the plant?" He said: "He is not in it like a thing in a thing as an indwelling (hululan), nor is He external to them like a thing in a place to the exclusion of a place, separate (mubayinan)."
[289] And from it, from Muhammad al-Karkhi from Isma'il bin Ali from Ibn Sadaqah from al-Ridha, that he said: "Indeed, that which you witnessed with your sights of the Form (al-surah) is Allah by His annexing to the manifestation of power, and it is not Allah by His annexing to the Form. So if the miracle manifested, the Form became void; because whoever said He is He [and] His form is upon reality, is not able to manifest the miracle. And whoever manifested the miracle, then that form is not His form upon reality, because that is the form of the incapable human."
[290] And by the chain of transmission, from al-Ridha, that he said: "Indeed, that which you witnessed with your sights of the form which you witnessed is Allah. And He only manifests according to what you are, because you are not capable of looking at what is contrary to you."
