[287] And from it, by the chain of transmission, from Muhammad bin Sadaqah from Yunus bin Zabyan from al-Mufaddal,

he said: Al-Sadiq - Exalted is His Might - said: "Whoever worshipped one who is not seen, then he has worshipped an unknown, absent one. And whoever worshipped one who is seen, then he has worshipped a limited, perceived one. And whoever said that He is not witnessed, then he has referred to an absent one. And whoever said that the sights perceive Him, then he might see his like.

And whoever worshipped the Meaning (al-ma'na) and the Name (al-ism) together, then he has associated partners [with Him]. And whoever described Him by what occurs to him from his thought, then he has only described himself. And whoever said that He is veiled from His creation, then he has meant other than Him. And whoever said that He is manifest to them, they see Him, then he has meant Him. And whoever knew Him from the direction of acknowledgment (al-iqrar) and knew Him from the manifestation of the miracles, and negated what he saw and affirmed what he knew, then those are the companions of the Commander of the Faithful."
