"Praise be to Allah, the Praised King, the Loving Owner, the Fashioner of every newborn, and the refuge of every outcast, and the spreader of the beds [the earth], and the establisher of the mountains, and the sender of the rains, and the facilitator of needs, the Knower of secrets and their perceiver, and the destroyer of properties and their annihilator, and the roller of ages and their repeater,

and the bringer of matters and their issuer, His heaven encompassed, and He perfected its accumulation and let it pour, and He complied with the request and the hope, and expanded the sand and made it sandy... etc."

[279] From the book "Yanabi' al-Mawaddah", Ibn Abbas said: "Imam Ali was given nine-tenths of knowledge, and indeed he is the most knowing of the people concerning the remaining tenth."

[280] And from the book "Al-Qatrah", from al-Shafi'i, that he said in answer to whoever asked him about the Commander of the Faithful: "What can I say about a man whose friends concealed his virtues out of fear, and his enemies concealed them out of hatred and enmity, and yet despite that, there has spread of them what has filled the two horizons [the East and the West]?"
