And I passed by Talhah while he was giving up his ghost and in his chest was an arrow. So I said to him: "Who shot you with this arrow?" So he said: "Ali bin Abi Talib." So I said: "O party of Bilqis and O army of Iblis, indeed Ali did not shoot arrows, and there is nothing in his hand except his sword." So he said: "O Jabir, do you not look at him, how he ascends into the air at times and descends to the earth at others, and comes from the direction of the east once and from the direction of the west at another, and he made the wests and the easts before his hands as one single thing? So he does not pass by a knight except he pierced him, and does not meet anyone except he killed him, or struck him, or threw him upon his face, or said to him: 'Die, O enemy of Allah,' so he dies. So no one escapes from him."

So I marvelled at what he said. And there is no wonder in the secrets of the Commander of the Faithful, and the marvels of his virtues, and the dazzling of his miracles.

[277] And from "Futuhat al-Quds", from Salman - from him is the light - when the Commander of the Faithful returned from fighting [at] Nahrawan, two roads intercepted him: the River of Isa and another river; one of them was a desolate wasteland and the other populated. So the Commander of the Faithful took with his army the desolate road. So thirst overcame the army from the intensity of the heat, and the hypocrites began to reproach, and the chest of the Commander of the Faithful tightened because of that. So they complained of that to the Commander of the Faithful and pleaded for help from the intensity of the thirst. And he ordered the army to be brought, and opposite his tent was a tree. So he ordered Qunbur and Salman to dig what was under it.
