Second: Indeed, the Legislator and the greats of the religion explicitly stipulated the necessity of concealing them, just as we previously cited on the authority of the Messenger—His might was mighty—and the immaculate Imams—His might was mighty—and they are more knowledgeable of that. It has occurred in the sacred law that independent reasoning (ijtihad) does not contradict the text, and in the law: “There is no independent reasoning in the presence of the text,” meaning that an official is required to work according to the legal provisions without departing from them under the pretext of independent reasoning.

Third: Indeed, we withhold them from others based upon what was mentioned of their lack of readiness to accept them, in view of their difficulty upon their souls which are shackled by other beliefs and principles upon which they were raised and grew up, and in view of the strength of the radiations of the lights of our knowledges which their weak sights and blind insights cannot bear. And is it out of wisdom that we load a seven-year-old child with the burden of a twenty-year-old youth? Or do we consider the emaciated patient to be like the healthy, stout person in strength and practical execution?
