Then He said: ["He said, 'This is a path upon Me, straight'"] ¹ , that he guides and directs to the straight path by which the rest of creation is tested. And it is sufficient, and it is the love of Ali, because he is the goal and the end.

[268] And from it is what al-Asbagh bin Nubatah narrated from Zayd al-Shahham: That a group of the hypocrites came to the Commander of the Faithful and said to him: "Are you the one who says that this eel (al-jirri) is a forbidden metamorphosed creature (maskh)?" So he said: "Yes." They said: "Show us your proof." So he brought them to the Euphrates, then he called out: "Mannash, Mannash." So the eel answered him: "At your service (Labbayk)." So the Commander of the Faithful said to him: "Who are you?" So he said: "I am of those upon whom your authority (wilayah) was presented, but he refused, so he was metamorphosed. And indeed among those with you are some who will be metamorphosed just as we were metamorphosed, and will become just as we became."
