[16] And from it, on the authority of Jabir bin Yazid al-Ju'fi, he said: “Abu Ja'far—His might was mighty—narrated to me seventy thousand narrations—and in another manuscript: ninety thousand narrations—and I did not narrate them to anyone ever. Jabir said: So I said to Abu Ja'far: 'May I be ransomed for you, you have only loaded me with a heavy burden by what you narrate to me of your secret which I do not narrate to anyone, and sometimes my chest surges with it until a semblance of madness takes hold of me due to it.' He said: 'O Jabir, when that happens, go out to the cemetery, dig a hollow, lean your head into it, then say: Muhammad bin Ali narrated to me such and such.'”
[17] And from the book of “[Al-Muhtadar]” on the authority of al-Sadiq—His might was mighty—: “Every outward in the Book has an inward, and they are both among that which must be acted upon.”
[18] And from it, from the saying of al-Sadiq—His might was mighty—to al-Mufaddal—peace be from him—: “O Mufaddal, take this, for indeed it is from the treasured and hidden knowledge; do not bring it out except to its worthy people... etc.”
