[264] And from it: And Ibn Abbas narrated that he, meaning the Commander of the Faithful, explained to him in a single night, from when its darkness approached until its morning brightened and its lamp was extinguished, the explanation of the [letter] Ba' of "Bismillah", and he did not cross over to the Sin.
[265] And from it: That the monk of al-Yamamah, al-Athram, used to give glad tidings to Abu Talib of the coming of Ali, and say to him: "A boy will be born to you who will be the master of the people of his time, and he is the greatest confidant (al-namus al-akbar), and he will be for the prophet of his time an arm, a supporter, a son-in-law, and a vizier. And indeed I will not reach his days, so convey peace to him from me." So when the Commander of the Faithful was born, Abu Talib passed by to inform him, but he found him having died. So he returned to the Commander of the Faithful and took him and kissed him. So the Commander of the Faithful greeted him and said: "O my father, did you come from the monk al-Athram who used to give you glad tidings of me?" And he related to him the story of the monk. So his father said to him: "You have spoken the truth."
