And from it: And it was narrated that Humran bin A'yan asked Abu Ja'far about the saying of Allah - Mighty and Majestic - :
["Then He approached and descended * And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer"] 1 , so he - majestic is his praise - said: "Allah the Almighty brought Muhammad His prophet near, so there was not between Him and him except a cage of pearl in which are moths glittering of gold, so he saw a form. So it was said: "O Muhammad, do you recognize this form?" He said: "Yes, this is the form of Ali bin Abi Talib." So Allah revealed: "That you marry him to Fatima and take him as a guardian (wali)."
So let the reader reflect how the reality of divinity manifested for our Master explicitly by the saying "so there was not between him, meaning Muhammad, and between Him, meaning Allah, except a cage of pearl", up to the saying: "so he saw a form, so it was said: O Muhammad, do you recognize this form? He said: Yes, this is the form of Ali bin Abi Talib", since the Creator is not seen by the light of the abstract divinity (al-lahut al-mujarrad).
