And the proof for his lordship by his saying: "I am the caller to them 'Am I not your Lord?'",
is the Almighty's saying: ["And when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, 'Am I not your Lord?' They said, 'Yes, we have testified.' [This] - lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, 'Indeed, we were of this unaware.'"] 1 And his saying: "by a sustaining command that has not ceased" is an indication that he is that Sustainer who has not ceased from his being, even if he manifested to his vision, and his calling to the creation is by the command and knowledge of his essence. And our Master has explicitly declared that the attribute of sustaining (al-qayyumiyyah) belongs to him by his saying in poetic verses: "And indeed I am a sustainer over every caretaker."
