And the proof for his divinity by his saying "I carried Noah in the ship" is the saying of Allah in the Quran: ["And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails."] 1 , and from his saying: "I destroyed the generations," we understand that he is Allah by the evidence of the Almighty's saying: ["And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Acquainted and Seeing."] 2 , and the evidence of his creatorship by his saying: "And I caused the earth to burst forth," is His saying, the Almighty: ["And We caused the earth to burst with springs, so the waters met for a matter already predestined."] 3 , and from his saying "I raised its canopy and I spread out its earth," his inward reality is deduced, by the evidence of the Almighty's saying: "He raised its canopy, and proportioned it."
And His saying, Glorified be He: "And the earth, after that, He spread it out.", and from his saying "And we do not beget, nor are we begotten in the bellies, and no one is compared to us," it becomes clear to us that he is Allah in His essence, by the evidence of His saying, the Almighty: "He neither begets nor is born, * Nor is there to Him any equivalent." And from his saying: "I am Al-Khidr, the teacher of Moses, and I am Noah, and I am Abraham," we deduce the soundness of our doctrine by the manifestation of the Meaning with the form of the veil in the identical states. And I leave to the acumen of the reader the interpretation of the remainder of the speech of our Master in this sermon, like his saying "indeed our dead has not died" and his saying "I, my name was written upon the Throne"... etc.
[229] And from it: And from a sermon he said after his departure from the killing of the Khawarij: "I am the face of Allah, I am the side of Allah, I am the knowledge of Allah. I have the knowledge of what was and what will be until the Day of Resurrection. I, my name in the scrolls is Eliya, and in the Torah is Bariya, and with the Arabs is Ali."
