He veils His esoteric (al-batin) with His exoteric whereby He is thought to be created, and He veils His exoteric with His esoteric until it is certain that He is the Creator.
And the preponderant sign establishing the attribute of creatorship is the conquering power, which, when it appears, incapacity and form are negated. And when this is His power, that is not His form, rather it is the form of those among whom He appeared. And for the sake of that, indeed the word of our Master in his saying: "by the permission of my Lord" enters into the scope of quasi-dissimulation (shibh al-tawriyah), since the word "idhn" (permission) comes with the meaning of authorization and comes with the meaning of knowledge, and it is what is intended here. And the word "rabbi" comes with the meaning of attribution to the Lord, just as it is said "ilahi" (divine) in attribution to the Deity. This is with the meaning that I give life and cause death "by a lordly knowledge" (bi-idhnin rabbiyyin), by appending the nunation (tanwin) to the nun of "idhn" and stressing the ba' and the ya' of "al-Rabb", meaning: I give life and cause death by a lordly knowledge from myself. So let the observer reflect.
