[175] And from it: From the Hadith of the Ascension (Mi'raj), regarding the saying of the Messenger (exalted be his might):
"Then I was ascended to the fifth heaven, and the angels said to me the like of what their companions had said. So I said: 'O angels of my Lord, do you recognize us with true recognition?' They said: 'And how could we not recognize you, when He has created the Garden of Paradise (Jannat al-Firdaws), and upon its gate is a tree on which there is not a single leaf except that upon it are written the words: There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and Ali is the most trustworthy handhold of Allah, the firm rope of Allah, and His eye over all creations.'"
Clarification (Idah): The "eye" ('ayn) of a thing is its essence (dhatuhu). And Allah is exalted above having an eye, a face, or a side like the eye, face, and side of a created being in reality.
