[173] And from the book Al-Qatrah min Bihar Manaqib al-'Itrah [The Drop from the Seas of the Virtues of the Progeny],
authored by the erudite scholar and proof (al-'allamah al-hujjah) Ahmad Murtada al-Tabrizi al-Mustanbit (Al-Najaf Press), he said: The Messenger of Allah (exalted be his might) said: "Looking at Ali bin Abi Talib is an act of worship, and mentioning him is an act of worship, and the faith of a servant is not accepted except through his allegiance (wilayah) and disavowal (bara'ah) of his enemies."
[174] And from it: He (exalted be his might) said: "By me you were warned, and by Ali bin Abi Talib you were guided," and he recited: ["You are only a warner, and for every people is a guide."] 1
Elucidation (Bayan): Warning is among the exclusive attributes of the Messenger (exalted be his might), while guidance belongs to the Creator. The evidence for this is the Almighty's saying, addressing His Messenger: "Indeed, you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided."
