["[This is a declaration of] disassociation, from Allah and His Messenger, to those with whom you had made a treaty among the polytheists,"] 1 and that is in the seventh chapter which precedes this one.
And from it: "Ali is to me in the position of my head to my body."
Regarding this saying of the Messenger (exalted be his might), I have mentioned and repeated several times that the entire masses of Muslims believe and state that the Master Muhammad (exalted be his might) is the most majestic of Allah's creation—angels and humans, heaven and earth—and that there is none greater than him except his Creator and Originator. Everyone possessing sense and perception knows that the head, in relation to the human body, is the most supreme and sublime part of it. The Master Messenger has mentioned in this hadith that the Commander of the Faithful is to him in the position of the head to the body, and this clearly means that our Master is greater than him, just as the head is the best of the body's parts.
