[158] And from it: Muwaffaq bin Ahmad al-Khwarizmi transmitted from the Prophet (exalted be his might), when he was asked: "In what language [or voice] did your Lord address you on the night of the Ascension (Mi'raj)?" He said: "My Lord addressed me in the language [voice] of Ali."

In this is an allusion that the Lord who addressed Muhammad (exalted be his might) is Ali. Just as the reader might ask: why did He not address him in the language of someone other than Ali, or rather, why did He (the Exalted) not address him in a divine language? And this is what supports our doctrine and our statement that the created being cannot see the light of the abstract Divinity (al-Lahut al-mujarrad) nor understand from it except through a form (surah).

[159] And from it: Muwaffaq bin Ahmad, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (exalted be his might) said: "Love for Ali is a good deed with which no sin can harm, and hatred for him is a sin with which no good deed can benefit." This saying of the Messenger is explained by his other saying recorded in several books, when he was asked (exalted be his might): "Which deeds are best?" He said: "Love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah."

[160] And from it: Muwaffaq bin Ahmad with his chain of narration (isnad) on the authority of Tawus, who said: The Messenger of Allah (exalted be his might) said: "Had people agreed upon the love of Ali bin Abi Talib, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) would not have created the Fire."
