Meanwhile, he (majestic is his praise) is exalted above all of that. What we witnessed of the aforementioned was only in terms of the vision of the eyes and the hearts that he turns, so you see him in that state, not in terms of reality, and without him changing, transitioning, or altering from his essence.
[152] It is recorded in the book Mashariq al-Anwar in a sermon of our Master (exalted be his might) addressing Salman al-Farisi (from him is peace). He (exalted be his might) said: "O Salman, indeed our dead has not died, our slain has not been slain, and our absent, when he is absent, does not disappear. And we do not beget, nor are we born in wombs."
"Nor is there to Him any equivalent": This transcendence (tanzih) applies to our Master, the Commander of the Faithful, with complete conformity. For he had no equivalent in the sublimity of his attributes, the greatness of his extraordinary actions, and his limitless knowledge. If we were to review any portion of his sublime attributes and supreme ideals, we would find him the unique and singular one in existence: in asceticism, courage, generosity, forbearance, loyalty, knowledge in all its forms, giving, judgment, uprightness, eloquence, articulate genius, values, teachings, divine miracles, and so on... unto the end of what exists that can neither be comprehended nor counted, and in which no one equals him.
