[148] It is recorded in the book Mashariq al-Anwar that the Master Messenger (exalted be his might) said to our Master (exalted be his might): "O Ali, you are the judge (dayyan) of this nation and the one in charge of its account; indeed, the return is to you, and the account is upon you." 1

The Verse: [“Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad?”] 2
[149] Our Master (exalted be his might) said in a sermon of his called the Sermon of the Manifestation (Khutbat al-Bayan): "I destroyed the first 'Aad and Thamud, and I left nothing of them remaining."
The Second Verse: [“And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,”] 3
