while the Muslims were digging at the exterior of the fortress to look at our Master and what would become of him.
Then the Exalted [One] said, as a revelation to those of understanding: ["And they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah; but [the penalty of] Allah came to them from where they had not expected."] 1 I imagine that I read this in a printed exoteric book, the name of which I have forgotten.

Footnotes
1Surah Al-Hashr – Verse 2.On the authority of our Master al-Sadiq (exalted be his might): "Our slogan is 'O Muhammad, O Muhammad.' And the day of Khaybar, the day of Qamus, [the Prophet said]: 'O Ali, come to them from above ('al).'" (Source: Bihar al-Anwar). The noble verse recounts what happened on the day of Khaybar, and this narration of al-Sadiq (exalted be his might) explains the saying of the Exalted, "But [the penalty of] Allah came to them from where they had not expected," on the day the Messenger (exalted be his might) said: "O Ali, come to them from above ('al)."Our Master al-Sadiq (exalted be his might) said: "His name is explicitly mentioned in Surah al-Hashr, for He says: 'And they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah; but [the penalty of] Allah came to them from where they had not expected.' And no one came to them at that time except your Master, the ’Ayn (The Essential Source), the Commander of the Faithful, Ali." (The Hadith of the Anza'i Image).
