When Abu Bakr, Umar, and the Muhajirun and Ansar heard the speech of the sun, they fell unconscious, then recovered after several hours.
The Commander of the Faithful had already departed the place. They met the Messenger of Allah (exalted be his might) and said: "You say that Ali is a human like us, yet the sun has addressed him with what the Creator addresses Himself!" The Prophet (exalted be his might) said: "What did you hear from it?" They said: "We heard it say: 'Peace be upon you, O First.'" He said: "It spoke the truth; he is the first to believe in me." They said: "We heard it say: 'O Last.'" He said: "It spoke the truth; he is the last of the people to be with me, he will wash me, shroud me, and place me in my grave." They said: "We heard it say: 'O Manifest.'" He said: "It spoke the truth; all my knowledge has manifested to him." They said: "We heard it say: 'O Hidden.'" He said: "It spoke the truth; he has hidden all my secret." They said: "We heard it say: 'O You who are of all things Knowing.'" He said: "It spoke the truth; he is the one who knows the lawful, the unlawful, the obligatory duties, the traditions, and what is similar to that."
They all stood up and said: "Muhammad has cast us into a takhya' (a deep, dark night)." And in another narration: "Into a blind tikhya (darkness)," and they went out of the door of the mosque.
