This verse, and the verses preceding it, contain a mention of the human state at the moment of death.
It has been reported in several exoteric books that every human being facing death must see our Master near them during the final throes of death (al-ihtidar). This is the allusion in our Master's (exalted be his might) statement to al-Harith al-Hamdani:
O Harith of Hamdan, whoever dies shall see me,
Whether a believer or a hypocrite, face to face.
[138] From the book Mashariq al-Anwar, the text is as follows: "As for his knowledge of him at the time of death, the evidence is his (exalted be his might) statement to al-Harith bin Hamdan: 'O Harith,' he said, 'Yes, O my Master.' He said: 'If your soul reaches the collarbone out of love for us, you shall see me where you love.' This, and the like, is an explicit indication of his presence at that time.
