(And this is distinct from the Greek dome that existed after Adam and before the appearance of the Messiah by approximately three hundred years.)
The explanation regarding this verse [28 of Surah At-Tur]—which we are currently discussing—is the saying of the Arifin (the Gnostics/those who possess gnosis) among the believers: meaning, "We used to call upon Him before," in His manifestation within the Dome of the Jann, as "The Beneficent, the Merciful." Were "the Beneficent" (al-Barr) and "the Merciful" (al-Rahim) intended merely as two of the Most Beautiful Names denoting the attributes of righteousness and mercy, rather than being a specific proper name [of that manifestation], the phrase "from before" (min qabl) would not have been used. For the Creator—Exalted is He—is described with righteousness and mercy in every place and time; He is called al-Barr and al-Rahim in the present and the future just as He is called in the past, and as He is now, so He was before.
Furthermore, to clarify the truth and provide evidence, I state that we believe the Veil (al-hijab) manifested with his Master, al-Barr al-Rahim, in the aforementioned dome, and his name was "Yusuf bin Makan."
