❖ From Surah Al-Fath ❖
The Verse: [“Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has covenanted with Allah - He will give him a great reward.”] 1
This is like His saying: “He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - then We have not sent you over them as a guardian.”] 2 It is similar to the saying of the Messenger—Exalted is His might:

1Surah Al-Fath – Verse 10. Regarding His saying: “Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands,” the scholars of the Shia have narrated that the Messenger of Allah—Exalted is His might—would not have anyone shake his hand for the pledge of allegiance without saying to Ali—Majestic is His praise: “O Abu al-Hasan, place your right hand over our hands until the covenant is heard, the pledge is completed, and the allegiance is finalized.” (Source: Al-Farq bayn al-Rasul wa al-Mursal)Our Master the Messenger of Allah—Exalted is His might—said in the sermon of the Day of Ghadir: “O assembly of people, what will you say? For Allah knows every voice and the hidden [intent] of every soul. So whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment. And whoever pledges allegiance, is only pledging allegiance to Allah; the hand of Allah is over their hands... Say what I have said to you, and greet Ali with the title of 'Commander of the Faithful,' and say: 'We hear and we obey, [we seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination,' and say: 'Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us.'” (Source: Al-Ihtijaj by Al-Tabarsi)
