By this Divine utterance, there is an allusion that human creation cannot bear to hear the speech of Allah through the light of Divinity, nor can they witness the Most High Essence except from behind a veil,
which is the visible form. Because the vision of the Truth—Majestic is His praise—as He is in His Essence is impossible and unattainable; He manifested where He is, and we saw Him from where we are.

The Verse: [“And when he learns of Our verses anything, he takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.”] 1
This is an allusion to those disbelieving, wicked ones who used to witness the miracles and powers of our Master—Exalted is His might—and would mock them, saying they were of the category of sorcery. It also refers to the skeptics of our own era and others who, when they read about a miracle attributed to our Master, mock it and consider it to be of the category of fabrication and irrational.
