And the reward of Abu al-Khattab Muhammad bin Abi Zaynab from our master al-Sadiq—when he explicitly declared his lordship—was that he manifested his revilement and his cursing, and the occurrence of that from our master toward Abu al-Khattab was only not out of anger against him or hatred for what he manifested,
but by way of dissimulation and a desire to protect him from the vengeance of the Abbasids, and indeed, what our master al-Sadiq—His might was mighty—wanted was realized, for the Abbasid ruler undertook the respect of Abu al-Khattab and his appreciation after the announcement of al-Sadiq of his cursing and his denunciation against him for the explicit declaration of his divinity.
[7] And it came in the book of “[Al-Jawahir]” by the trustworthy youth Abu Said al-Maymun bin al-Qasim al-Tabarani—may Allah sanctify him—that a man said to the Master al-Sadiq—His might was mighty—: “O my master, the cursing of Abu al-Khattab has broken our backs,” so al-Sadiq said: “As for the ship was for poor people working at sea. So I intended to cause defect in it as there was after them a king who seized every ship by force,” and he said: “If you see Abu al-Khattab, say to him: You are the ship.”
