and his soul flowed into my palm, which I then wiped over my face. I took charge of his washing—Exalted is His might—while the angels were my assistants; the house and the courtyards were clamorous with a host descending and a host ascending. My hearing never ceased to detect their murmuring as they prayed over him until we laid him in his grave—Exalted is His might. So who is more entitled to him than I, in life and in death?”

[114] And it came in the book Mashariq al-Anwar: “And the secret is the allusion in His saying: ‘Ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace (tasliman),’ [which] means: send blessings upon Muhammad and submit (sallimu) your affair to Ali.”
