[111] And what is reported in the book Yanabi' al-Mawaddah: The Hafiz Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti said regarding the codex of Ibn Mas'ud: “And sufficient was Allah for the believers in battle [by Ali].”

[112] And in it also, from Ja'far al-Sadiq—Exalted is His might—[he said]: “And sufficient was Allah for the believers in battle [by Ali],” because he killed 'Amr bin 'Abd Wudd. And similar speech, with the same wording, has been reported in other books, and we have sufficed with what we have presented.

Indeed, in the phrase “And ever is Allah Powerful and Exalted in Might” is an allusion to the power and impregnability he possessed, which has been discussed previously. Among what the pilgrims say in Makkah when greeting the Yemeni Corner (al-Rukn al-Yamani), which contains the Black Stone, is: “There is no deity except Allah alone, alone; He fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the Confederates alone. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, alone, alone.” Thus, the Commander of the Faithful is the one who fulfilled His promise by helping the Messenger and the believers.
