[103] It came in the second part of Yanabi' al-Mawaddah: “We came with Ali to Karbala, so he descended into it and wept and said—Exalted is His might: ‘Here is the place where their mounts will kneel, here is the place of their baggage, and here is the place where their blood will be shed. Young men from the family of Muhammad—Exalted is His might—will be killed in this courtyard; the heaven and the earth will weep over them...’ etc.”
An allusion to the killing of al-Husayn and those with him in the land of Karbala, and he is too exalted for that, just as the Messiah was too exalted for the crucifixion, and he is him [Ali] inwardly.
[104] And from the book Mashariq al-Anwar is what Muhammad bin Sinan—peace be upon him—narrated, saying: I heard the Commander of the Faithful—Exalted is His might—saying to a man—meaning Umar: “O deceived one, as if I see you in this world killed by a wound,” alluding to his stabbing by Abu Lu'lu'ah.
[105] And from the book Irshad al-Qulub, he—Exalted is His might—said to him—meaning Umar: “However, I see you in this world [killed] by a wound from the slave of Umm Ma'mar.”
[106] And from what al-Asbagh bin Nubatah narrated, he said: “The Commander of the Faithful—Exalted is His might—whenever a man stood before him, would say: ‘O so-and-so, son of so-and-so, prepare yourself and make ready what you wish, for you will become ill in such-and-such month and on such-and-such day.’ And it would be exactly as he said.”
