[97] And in it: "The fourth [story], the author of al-Fada'il narrated, tracing it up to Ammar, that they brought to him—Exalted is His might—a girl with a thousand horsemen. Her father said: 'The kings of the Arabs have sought her hand in marriage, and she has lowered my head because she is a virgin who is pregnant.' He—Exalted is His might—said to the midwife of Kufa: 'Examine her, is she pregnant?' She examined her and said: 'Yes.' He—Exalted is His might—said to her father: 'Who is able to [provide] a piece of ice at this hour?' He replied: 'Ice is abundant in his land, which is from the regions of Damascus, but it is two hundred and fifty farsakhs away.' He—Exalted is His might—stretched out his hand while he was on the pulpit and returned it with a piece of ice in it. He ordered that a basin be placed under the girl and the piece of ice be placed near her private parts.
The woman cast out a leech weighing seven hundred and fifty dirhams and two daniqs. He had informed them of its weight beforehand, then said to her father: 'Your daughter entered the water when she was ten years old, and this leech entered her body and has grown in her belly until now.' Her father rose, saying: 'I testify that you know what is in the inner thoughts and what is in the wombs, and that you are the Gate of the Religion.'" A similar report is found in 'Uyun al-Mu'jizat.
As for his knowledge of what a soul will earn in the future, and how and where it will die:
[98] From it, in the book Nahj al-Balagha, is his saying—Majestic is His praise—addressing the people of Iraq: “By Allah, the lad of Thaqif—the one who trails his garments, the one who sways—shall surely be empowered over you; he will consume your green [crops] and melt your fat. Oh, Abu Wadhah!”
Our Master is alluding to the emergence of al-Hajjaj al-Thaqafi and his domination over the people of Iraq, and the injustice, persecution, killing of their men, and seizure of their wealth that he committed.
