Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.”] 1
The Creator forbids His believing servants from openly cursing the leaders of misguidance whom the disbelievers have taken as allies instead of Allah, lest they insult Allah, who is the Commander of the Faithful—sublime is his remembrance—in return, out of transgression on their part and without knowledge that he is Allah, for they consider him a created being.

1Surah Al-An'am – Verse 108From Ibn Abbas, who said: Ibn Abbas passed by, after his sight had been veiled, a group from Quraysh while they were insulting Ali. So he said to his guide: “Return me to them.” So he returned him, and Ibn Abbas stood and said to them: “Who is the one who insulted Allah?” They said: “Glory be to Allah, O Ibn Abbas! Whoever insults Allah has associated partners with Him.” He said: “Then whoever insulted Muhammad has disbelieved.” He said: “Who is the one who insulted Ali?” They said: “As for this, it did happen.” So Ibn Abbas said: “I call Allah to witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah—His might was mighty—saying: ‘Whoever insults Ali has insulted me, and whoever insults me has insulted Allah.’” (Bisharat al-Mustafa li-Shi'at al-Murtada)From Abdullah bin Abbas, while Sa'id bin Jubayr was guiding him, he passed by the area of Zamzam, and there was a group of the people of the Levant cursing Ali bin Abi Talib—His might was mighty. So he said to Sa'id bin Jubayr: “Return me to them.” He stood over them and said: “Which of you is the insulter of Allah—Mighty and Majestic?” They said: “Glory be to Allah, there is no one among us who insults Allah.” He said: “Which of you is the insulter of the Messenger of Allah?” They said: “There is no one among us who insults the Messenger of Allah—His might was mighty.” He said: “Then which of you is the insulter of Ali bin Abi Talib—His might was mighty?” They said: “As for this, it did happen.” He said: “Then I bear witness regarding the Messenger of Allah—His might was mighty—that my two ears heard him, and my heart comprehended him saying to Ali bin Abi Talib: ‘O Ali, whoever insults you has insulted me, and whoever insults me has insulted Allah, and whoever insults Allah, He shall throw him upon his nostrils into the Fire.’ Then he turned away from them.” (Al-Amali by Al-Saduq)
