So the fish spoke with an eloquent tongue and said: “You are the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib.” Then it said: “O so-and-so, I am your mother, so-and-so the daughter of so-and-so; I died in such-and-such year, and the mark on your hand is such-and-such.”
So the people said: “We bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger, and that you are truly the Commander of the Faithful.” The two fish returned to how they were, and the Jew believed, saying: “I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and that you are truly the Commander of the Faithful.” The people then dispersed, having increased in their recognition of the Commander of the Faithful—sublime is his remembrance.
