In the verse is an allusion to those astray followers who used to resort to the judgment of their pharaohs and their leaders in polytheism, turning away from the judgment of our master, who was renowned for the justice of his decrees and decisive speech (fasl al-khitab). So much so that the Messenger—His might was mighty—said: “The most capable judge of my nation is Ali bin Abi Talib,” and he said: “The judgment of Ali is the judgment of Allah upon His Throne.” And it was from the saying of the second, when the decisive judgment of our master amazed him and his truthful religious edicts (fatawa) dazzled him, he said: “Let no one issue an edict in the assembly while Ali is present.”
And based upon that, he said: “Were it not for Ali, Umar would have perished.”
❖ From Surah Al-An'am ❖
[The First Verse: “Those have certainly lost who deny the meeting with Allah.”] 1
The Book declares that the Creator has a meeting with His creation, and whoever denies this meeting is considered among the losers. In this is an explicit allusion to His manifestation in the visible human form, and His calling them through it to His recognition and to traverse the paths of goodness from it.
