The investigator of reality knows that the one who achieved victory for the Muslims in that battle, whose millstones ground between them and the polytheists, as well as in other battles,
was none other than the Commander of the Faithful—sublime is his remembrance. For he was the one who defeated the armies of polytheism, shook its pillars, and demolished its foundation.
[The Sixth Verse: “Allah has certainly heard the statement of those who said, ‘Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich.’ We will record what they said and their killing of the prophets without right and will say, ‘Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire.’”]1
This is an allusion to what occurred regarding the matter of the three when the Messenger—His might was mighty—turned them away when each of them came seeking the hand of Fatima in marriage, and he married her to the Commander of the Faithful. And from the book Al-Kawkab al-Durri:
