Our master—sublime is his remembrance—whenever he intended to execute any matter, he brought it to fruition instantly and in the blink of an eye. If he wished, for example, to bring a dead person back to life, he would do no more than say to him:

“Rise, O so-and-so, by the permission of Allah,” and speak with hidden words, whereupon the deceased would stand upright before him, just as was the case in the story of Mudrik bin Hanzalah, Sa'd bin Mas'adah al-Ansari, the Companions of the Cave (As-hab al-Kahf), the woman, and others.

The meaning of “by the permission of Allah” is “by His command,” and our master was the commander, as evidenced by his saying: “Rise, O so-and-so.” The same applies to the rest of the other matters, such as returning the sun in numerous places, addressing the fetus in the story of Fadlun the Worshiper, and his arrival from Al-Mada'in to Medina to rescue Fadlun in the blink of an eye, among other things that cannot be measured or counted.

[The Fifth Verse: “And Allah had already given you victory in [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. So fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful.”] 1
