The summary of the story: It is said that during the era of the Messenger of Allah—His might was mighty—while he was in Medina the Radiant, there was a man named Fadlun, who was beautiful of stature and radiant of face,
and so devoted to worship that it prompted the Messenger—His might was mighty—to love and esteem him. One day he said to him: “O Fadlun, a calamity will befall you during the era of the rule of Umar bin al-Khattab, so call upon my cousin Ali to rescue you.”
When the second took over the rule, it happened that a beautiful, wealthy woman named Inanah bint Kinanah became infatuated with Fadlun due to his excessive beauty. She invited him to consort with her or marry her, but he refused her. During the pilgrimage season in one of the years, Fadlun went with the caravan of pilgrims from the city of Medina to Mecca to perform the obligatory pilgrimage. At the head of the caravan was the Master Salman al-Farsi—peace be from him. The woman also went with the caravan solely because of Fadlun's departure, accompanied by a male slave and a maidservant. She used to camp at the stops near him, and she secretly offered that he yield to her demand, otherwise she would devise a plot to scandalize him. However, he refused, submitting his affair to Allah.
