I heard from it a groaning like the groaning of pregnant women when they wish to deliver their burden. Then I heard it say: “You are the Commander of the Faithful and the successor of the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds; you are the greatest sign (al-ayat al-kubra) and the supreme proof.”

Then it fell silent. He turned to me and said: “O Jabir, the doubt has now vanished from your heart and the clarity of your mind; conceal what you have heard and seen from anyone other than its proper people.”
