and they have charged me with a dead man over whose cause of death they have differed, and he is now at the door of the mosque. If you bring him back to life, we shall know that you are truthful, noble of origin, and we shall verify that you are the Proof of Allah on His earth and the caliph of Muhammad over his people. But if you are unable to do that, we shall return him to his people and we shall know that you claim other than the truth and display from yourself that which you cannot perform.”
