He continued doing this until he toured the locations with everyone who was present, while Dulaf kept saying: ‘O my master and protector, it is as if you were the one who placed these things in these locations.’

Then he looked at a decayed skull that was cast aside and said to one of his companions: ‘Take this skull.’ He—His might was mighty—then came to the Iwan (the grand hall) and sat inside it. He called for a basin and poured water into it, saying to him: ‘Place this skull into the basin.’ Then he—His might was mighty—said: ‘I swear upon you, O skull, that you must inform me: who am I, and who are you?’ Thereupon, the skull spoke in an eloquent tongue and said: ‘As for you, you are the Commander of the Faithful, the Master of the Successors, and the Imam of the righteous in both The Exoteric (Al-Zahir) and The Esoteric (Al-Batin), and you are far greater than can be described. As for me, I am the servant of Allah and the son of the maidservant of Allah, Chosroes Anushirwan.’”
