Indeed, the host does not delight the heart of his guest if he veils himself from him, no matter what types of food and drink he offers him—unless that guest is lustful, having no concern except satisfying his stomach. And the loyal lover possesses nothing more desirable or delicious than seeing his beloved.

Would He, Glory be to Him and Exalted is He—and He is the Wise, the Generous—stint His witnessing from those of His lovers who yearn to see Him? He—Majestic is His praise—said: “And the earth will shine with the light of its Lord,” and He, Glory be to Him, said: “No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be veiled.” He did not say that their Lord is veiled from them, and in this is an indication toward those disbelievers whom matter occupied away from the spirit, and the creature away from the Creator, so they were veiled, as a result of their deeds and their negligence, from the knowledge of their Master. Indeed, they see Him through manifestation, but they do not recognize Him in reality; and every one of them says, "Allah is my Lord," yet if you question them, they do not know Him.
