so he said: Indeed, one hundred thousand have pledged allegiance to you in Khorasan, and it is not broad enough for you to sit away from them, so he said: "One hundred thousand?!" He said: One hundred thousand. He said: "We will look into that," then he said: "Go and sit near so-and-so the perfumer." He said: So he came and sat, and the master of the shop was not in it, and his boy was in it, so he saw a man who had come and said to his boy: "Bring the key," so he opened the chest of the property and took dirhams from it and went away, then another came and took and went away, so the man said to the boy: "Did all of these ask your permission?" He said: No, indeed these are his brothers in the religion. He said: "Do they do like this?!" The boy said: Yes, their wealth is a consultation between them, so it is as if they are one.

He said: So the man returned to al-Sadiq, and al-Sadiq, transcended his might, said to him: "Repeat to me what you said, how many pledged allegiance to me in Khorasan?!" He said: One hundred thousand. Al-Sadiq said: "How many among them are like whom you saw of the perfumer's brothers?!" He said: Not even one. He said: "Then go away until they become like these."
